Note From Principal
One hundred years ago this year, Saxon Heights Elementary School became an integral part of the community of Dublin. Over the years, Saxon has established a tradition of excellence in educating Dublin's young children by focusing on and meeting their academic, physical, and emotional needs.
Saxon Heights Elementary has the distinction of having attained 10 Consecutive Years of Adequate Yearly Progress through No Child Left Behind. Only 26 schools within the state of Georgia have reached this goal. Saxon has been labeled as a Title 1 Distinguished School for 8 consecutive years which is the highest number of years in the state.
Saxon was named by the Georgia Public Policy Foundation as one of its 35 No Excuses School for 2008 because of the sustained high levels of student achievement. The Georgia Elementary School Principals (GAESP) Association awarded Saxon one of its 10 statewide 2008 School Bell Awards for the collaborative work Saxon teachers provided in integrating instructional technology throughout the curriculum. Last spring the Georgia Educational Technology Training Centers (ETTC) spotlighted Saxon's integration of technology throughout the curriculum and differentiation of instruction at the EFFC's state conference. The Georgia Department of Education's Instructional Technology division is featuring Saxon on its new webpage which will be launched sometime this year.
The teachers, staff and administration at Saxon are dedicated to ensuring that your child has every opportunity to succeed. The teachers work together to prepare lessons which focus on the Georgia Performance Standards and which foster higher order thinking in all students. Every effort will be made to keep parents up to date on their child's academic and behavioral progress. As Saxon is "Reaching for Excellence," every parent is encouraged to work with the faculty and staff to provide a seamless learning environment for every student. Welcome to the Saxon Family.
